Autism: the Musical

When my health professor dimmed the lights for class last wednesday, I was overjoyed in the fact that we were watching a movie and I wouldn't have to take notes for this elective class I had very little interest in. Little did I know that this movie would bring me to tears no less than 10 times, turn me into a raging activist to all of my friend, and cause me to dedicate a blog post solely to it. I am now I changed person.

This is one of the most beautiful documentaries I've ever watched. It takes a look into something called The Miracle Project, a program that a single mother of an autistic son started to create a place for autistic children to learn theatre and movement skills. For two hours you are drawn into the very long and difficult process of creating a musical starring only children faced with autism, a disease that causes behavioral, cognitive, and communicative problems. You get to know all of the families, see their struggles, pray for successes, and really get a view into the world of autism that only those closely affected get to see. It's amazing.

The story is beautiful, the relationships are real, the pain is deep, and the laughs are genuine, and the triumphs are exhilarating. I searched far and wide on the internet for a free version to share with you people, but alas it doesn't exist. I sincerely encourage you all, if you come across this, to give two hours of your life to watch it. You won't be disappointed.
