Empire State of Mind
So, this summer started off swimmingly with an amazing mission trip to the beautiful Huayncayo, Peru. Definitely two of the greatest weeks of my life. God did so many wonderful things.
However, just seven days after retuning home from South America, I find myself in none other than THE New York City. Yesterday was full of plane rides, shuttles, unpacking, and getting to know my new apartment (at the Fashion Institute of Technology dorms), and my roommate (who is a Brooklyn native and knows the city like the back of her hand). Today I woke up bright and early determined to get to know the city.
I had breakfast at the Starbucks at Penn Plaza.
Found my workplace (internship starts tomorrow!) and bought essentials at Kmart.
Then I took the subway by myself for the first time in my life, and actually made it to my destination without getting lost! From there I walked to Sheep's Meadow in Central Park to meet one of the five people I actually know in this city. I met some of his friends, played (watched) Paddle Ball, and then went Redeemer Presbyterian Church for their 6pm service, which was all fantastic. After church, I successfully took the subway back home, ate dinner, and strolled through Times Square. It was quite the successful first day, if I do say so myself.
