Is this real life?

Ahem. Do you see that right up there. THAT. You know, the picture of me with one of my biggest celebrity crushes EVER. Yeah. THAT HAPPENED. For those of you who don't know, that's Matthew David Lewis, a.k.a Neville Longbottom from my favorite book/movie franchise of all time, Harry Potter. I'm still hyperventilating a little about it. Here's the tale:

So, I'm pretty obsessed with Harry Potter. I grew up with the books/movies, have attended all of the midnight premieres, and may or may not have live streamed the Deathly Hallows Part 2 London Premiere at my internship. So obviously I follow almost all of the cast on Twitter. Mister Lewis tweeted about being in NYC last night and I got super excited about possibly running into him on the street. This morning, he tweeted about being at a pub in Times Square (and some stealthy investigation gave me details on which one), and I realized this place was a mere ten blocks away. So off I went, probably sprinting the whole way and stopped right outside. I had no idea if he was actually in there, and wasn't sure if I'd even be let inside if he was. I contemplated turning around, but after some encouraging words from the Mom and the sister (something along the lines of disowning me if I didn't go in there), I swallowed my nerves and walked inside.

I strolled right in with no obstacles, and there he was, just sitting there at the bar with one of his mates watching the Yankees game. I looked around and found no looming bodyguards ready to body-check me, so I tapped on his shoulder and managed to mutter "A-are you Matthew David Lewis?". He answered in his gorgeous British accent, "Yeah... are you alright?", obviously worried about why I was turning a slightly greenish tinge and foaming at the mouth at the sight of him. "I'm fine", I said, with a twitch in my eye, "I'm just a big fan. Could I get a picture with you?" And the fine gentleman popped up and had his friend snap a picture of us (see above). My entire body was shaking at this moment and I figured vomiting on him might ruin the moment, so I merely said, "Thank you! Hope you have fun in the city!" and hightailed it out of there. I then proceeded to text everyone I knew/yell at random strangers on the street and told them about it.

So that's my story. I haven't met many famous people in my life (see Betsey Johnson post), let alone people I am in love with, so this was pretty cool. Plus he was really nice about it. In retrospect, that would have been the opportune moment to strike up a conversation with him and convince him to be my husband. But my nerves got the best of me and now all I have is this picture and the outfit I was wearing that I'll obviously never wash again... Anyways, one big lesson to learn here, kids, is that stalking always pays off!
